the first wild dog rose that I have seen. in the evening near the estuary. a tiny creature must have nibbled it whilst it was still a bud! of course it wasn't the first roese to bloom, a petal fallen on the floor was evidence of a previous flower opened and over. in a week or so there will be a smothering of honeysuckle just up the lane.
